Mianyang Library was founded in early period of 1922, the site was located in the People's Park; Mianyang County Library upgraded to Mianyang Library in 1985; May 23, 1992 the new building was build up in the middle of Changhong Avenue.The main building area of ​​Mianyang Library nearly 7,000 m2, the library name  by the famous sociologist Fei Xiaotong written; August 2000 Mianyang Science and Technology Information Research Institute was incorporated into the Mianyang Library, the implementation of two brands a unified management system.
